We recently mined this natural Australian crystal opal on the Hans Peak field of Coober Pedy. After attaching it to natural Queensland opal boulder ironstone with strict quality controls we create a doublet, then shape, polish and set it with a deep seated, heavily crimped and cleaned solid 14k gold bail here at Star Mountain Gems Australia.
With classic oval cabochon symmetry and a perfectly polished medium dome, this water clear crystal piece is throwing sparkling reds and pinks all around, gorgeously accented by deep blue and green overlays.
This quality opal would retail for around $600 per carat (around 1.2 carats gem opal weight) making a natural pendant like this hard to find for less than around $750.00 retail.
