This rough opal specimen was mined on the 4 Mile East Pacific opal field of Coober Pedy Australia.
A world class sample of precious, gem quality white based opal in it’s host rock that would easily star in most mineral collections, or indeed as an auspicious paper weight or terrarium piece.
After 30 years in the opal business, we firmly believe opal can be the most beautiful gem on Earth, and we love the colourful characters and lifestyle of the outback opal fields. Here at Star Mountain Gems we are privileged to do our best to acquaint the world with the colour, light and beauty that quality Australian opal jewellery has to offer.
Collectors specimens like this are becoming increasingly rare due to the major fields being mostly worked out and declining mining activity. Watch the video to see us mining in our East Pacific claim:
This spectacular piece display beautiful white based red and green fire throughout and appears very similar to the Ethiopian opal matrix talisman that appears famously in the oscar nominated film, Uncut Gems. .
WEIGHT: 570 carats.
DIMENSIONS: Approximately 62 mm by 50 mm by 37 mm, with the biggest gem opal window measuring around 22 by 17mm.
This piece would cut several carats of gem opal but is possibly better kept as a world class museum grade specimen.

Star Mountain Gems maintains a 30 day 100% satisfaction guarantee return policy on all items.
